Manila – Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said today that couple celebrities Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo are exempted from serving jail time following their blatant disregard for the rules related to the national elections.
The couple posted in separate photos with their ballots which is an election offense. Bernardo was also caught on camera wearing baller bracelet promoting her candidates from the Liberal Party. Comelec has banned the use of phones not only for taking selfies but also for anything else inside the polling precincts.
Jimenez, however, was quick to dismiss the netizens’ call for jailing the twenty-year-old teen king and queen saying that they are first-time offenders. He also reminded people of the many achievements made by the two in being fine role models for the youth.
“I’m sure they only meant well when they posted those pictures. It was permitted by ABS-CBN and we know that ABS-CBN know what they are doing.” Jimenez added, “it would look very bad for us if we jail these two. What would the Filipino youth say? It might incite a riot.”
Jimenez did assure that he will talk with the two later today at Starbucks when they get their free chocolate hazelnut macchiato.
