America Thanks the Philippines for Genuine Concern for their Troops

John Kerry

Washington, DC – US Secretary of State John Kerry conveys their eternal gratitude to the Philippines through DFA Secretary Perfecto Yasay for the country’s concern for the safety and well-being of the Special Forces that are currently in Mindanao.

“I cannot thank President Duterte enough for his love and care for the American troops in the jungles of Mindanao,” said Kerry. “Our Special Forces are in a foreign country and are afraid for their safety amidst the threat of beheading and terrorism from Abu Sayyaf. That President Duterte wants them out of harm’s way says enough about his commitment to continue our alliance.”

On Monday, September 12, President Duterte voiced his anxiety over the safety of the elite American troops in Mindanao after terrorist group Abu Sayyaf declared an all-out war against the Philippines and that he said he wishes to get them out of harm’s way.

While the Philippine army expressed their willingness to secure the American Special Forces while they make their exit, the United States said they will be sending a C-130 plane to get their troops to safety.
