Massive Blackout Scheduled in Manila as Meralco Lose to Ginebra

Manila blackout

Manila – In response to Ginebra’s winning the 2016 Governors’ Cup championship on Wednesday night, October 19th, Meralco will shut down all their power grid in the metro in the next few days.

Meralco Bolts lost to the Ginebra Kings after a close game of basketball at the Araneta Coliseum. The game was tied at 88 during the last 5 seconds of game 6 when Justin Brownlee of the Ginebra Kings nailed a triple buzzer beater, giving them the win and the championship after 8 years of drought.

The Meralco team management reiterated that the blackout is not in retaliation to their loss but rather as a symbol of mourning. The power will be back before the All Saints Day holiday.
