Pacquiao Reprimanded for Arranging Unsanctioned Fist Fight in the Senate

Quezon City – Senator Manny Pacquiao is in hot water for allegedly arranging a three-round fist fight between Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and Antonio Trillanes IV at the Senate Hall on Tuesday, January 17th.

Senators Zubiri and Trillanes got into a heated argument earlier over the Bureau of Immigration bribery probe. The word war turned into an exchange of offensive statements during which the Senator from Saranggani stepped in and arranged a more organized fight of fist and one melee weapon, if both parties agreed. Zubiri immediately brought up his arnis (kali) skills and casually mentioned his being a world champion. Trillanes was about to unsheath his mini jungle bolo that he keeps concealed on his leg when Senate sergeant-at-arms broke up the commotion.

The other senators were quick to remind Pacquiao that the Senate Hall is not a boxing ring and any arranged fights should be done in the lounge where there are no media personnel present.
