Sulu – Terrorist group Abu Sayyaf thanks both the Philippine and Norwegian governments for another successful transaction following the payment of the ransom money for the release of Norwegian hostage Kjartan Sekkingstad.
Abu Sayyaf spokesperson Abu Ramie announced that the hostage has been released at 3:30 p.m. today, September 18, to their colleague MNLF commander Tahil Sali. He then proceeded to thank the key persons who were involved in the smooth transaction.
“We would like to thank President Duterte, Secretary Dureza, Mr. Nur Misuari, and everyone who made this all possible,” said Abu Ramie. “This is another milestone in our long-standing business relationship with the Philippine government. We hope to conduct more business deals with them again soon.”
While Abu Ramie did not disclose the amount that they received, President Duterte was accommodating enough to reveal that the armed group had been paid 50 million pesos.
