Manila – Duterte supporters who are against the Marcoses appeared to be shocked after the Supreme Court allowed the burial of the late dictator at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, with a 9-5 vote on Tuesday, November 8.
“I had literally zero idea that this day would come,” said 36-year-old Daniel Gamboa whose father was imprisoned and subsequently died during the Martial Law. “I am aware that Duterte explicitly said that he will order Marcos’ burial at the LNMB and that Imee discreetly contributed to his campaign but I assumed that the Supreme Court had independence from the Presidency.”
The Supreme Court decision put an end to a 25-year divisive issue of the hero’s burial for Marcos.
Meanwhile, the Marcoses expect that allowing their late father a hero’s burial will bring healing to over a hundred thousand victims of human rights violations during the Martial Law.
