Manila – In its effort to curb criminality, the government is looking to declassify murder as a crime if the police cannot find any leads within a month.
According to a report of the Philippine National Police (PNP), crime rate including drug trafficking, robbery, and rape has gone down since President Duterte took office in July 2016. However, the significant increase in the number of murder cases both by the police and unknown assailants has been tainting the exceptional crime-fighting record of the PNP.
“This move will complement the efforts of our police force in fighting criminality,” says PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. “Since the increase in the number of killings is the only bad record, removing it from the equation gives us success.”
